Our Core Values "The Top 5"
- Mastery
- Sacred
- Tangy
- Brilliant
- Strong
- Mastery: This is about fully integrating all we know and have learned to date, becoming more conscious, mature, accepting and self-responsible as individuals and in relationships/community; this is about designing healthy alliances and living in integrity. This is about always striving for growth, aliveness and alignment; listening to one’s inner voice and taking action, with full permission, and always responsible for one’s impact; expanding one’s comfort zone; being a lifelong learner; encouraging curiosity and going to bed all used up, a changed person at the end of each day. This is about committing to great relationships, outcomes and process; developing mindful competence at what we do best and how we show up; and this is about partnering with people who strengthen us and call us forth. This is about working to enhance one’s self-esteem by clarifying who we are, what’s important to us, and what we’re good at and this is about leading to these things in our lives and work, anchored in self-knowledge and a growing body of experience and expertise. This is about anchoring in the belief that it is possible to build a better world, a world at peace, and that everything we do in alignment with our talents, gifts, strengths and dreams and to make ourselves better as individuals contributes to achieving this global outcome.
- Sacred:This is about a way of life; of beginning in love and acceptance and making it a priority to learn how to do this. This is about making an assumption of goodness and this is about connection and respect, for life, family and community in all of its forms. This is about honoring our biology and our instincts and what we know to be true, and this is about having faith, a reverence for the mysteries in life. This is about self-responsibility and extreme self-care; about taking care of our bodies. This is about affirming, honoring and promoting the worth and dignity of each individual and living creature while also honoring and building beloved communities. This is about non-violent communication, right relations, and deep democracy; about creating powerful partnerships, holistic health, wellness, well-being and harmony. This is about resonance and creation—and the power within each of us to bear life and give birth. This is about celebrating our individual and collective humanity, thinking globally and acting locally; about caring, out loud, for each person and making this a shared goal all over the world in this lifetime.
- Tangy: This is about truth, danger, freedom and simplicity; the power of learning to recognize, be with and sit in the heart of the paradoxes of life—the sweet with the sour, the good with the bad, the pleasure with the pain, the joy with the sorrow. This is about staring denial and blind obedience down and making truth and wisdom paramount; about honoring our elders, all of the elders among us, as well as our youth. This is about body wisdom, alignment, inclusion, acknowledgement and, once again, integrity. It is about giving our emotional bodies and feeling selves as much attention as we give our intellectual, spiritual, psychological, relational and physical selves; having the courage to operate as much from the heart as from the head and feel, viscerally. This is about staying with those feelings, however bad and however good, for as long as is required to experience them fully; thereby honoring them and enhancing their impact, our impact, in the world.
- Brilliant: This is about creating safe and courageous spaces for each one of us to shine, and feel seen and heard and validated; it’s about taking the time to listen to and really see one another, to illuminate, amplify and celebrate our respective gifts and strengths, and to bear witness to one another in our processes of becoming whole and fully expressed. This is about building healthy relationships, beginning with the one with ourselves, one conversation at a time; about shifting our focus to what’s right with you, me and us, and about accepting and honoring our bigness, sharing our gifts, leading to our strengths and finding our voices. This is about reciprocity and inviting others to do the same. This is about story-telling, teaching and learning, and this is about having the courage to show up fully revealed, knowing and trusting that even in that fullness, warts and all, we are loved, lovable, celebrated and worthy (independent of our appearances or achievements). This is about acceptance and this is about envisioning a world in which each person knows he or she is worthy, loved, lovable and celebrated and is, as a result, at peace within. This is about envisioning the world we can create when each person is, in fact, at peace within. This is about a shift in perspective and believing that it is, in fact, a miracle.
- Strong: This is about seeing ourselves as leaders in our own lives, at the very least, and doing whatever is necessary to become strong, to learn, to grow and to bring our gifts forward, turning them into strengths and applying them in service of those who we are best suited to serve. This is about service and outreach and healing; this is about health and wellness and wealth creation; and this is about requiring much of ourselves and one another; about calling one another forth. This is about seeing ourselves and one another as naturally creative, resourceful and whole and assuming the best, always and first; about assisting those who are weak to become strong and yielding to them for similar support when we are weak and in need of their strength. This is about taking turns, about getting good at the dances of life and work, blended leadership, families and cultures. This is about resilience and persistence and commitment; about co-activity, co-existence, co-evolution, and celebration; this is about the cycles, the ebb and flow, of life, and about taking our turns in the lead and in the mix, staying curious in the diversity of appearance and thought, giving and receiving, and this is about learning how to do all of this with gratitude and grace. This is about believing that most of these things are skills that can be learned and, standing firm in that belief, this about devoting one’s life to learning and practicing these skills, to developing mastery, and to becoming and staying strong, for ourselves and for one another.
